Taylor Swift afternoon tea at Dotty’s, Carshalton

Calling all Swifties – get yourself to Dotty’s Teahouse in Carshalton on the London/ Surrey border if you want to treat yourself to your very own Swift-tea!

We love Dotty’s – it’s very local to us and we pop in every few months for a drink and cake. The cafe is beautifully decorated with flowers everywhere; it’s also pink but not overly pink and goes for a vintage look. The counter is full of beautifully decorated cakes and treats, the China is mis-matched vintage and they have an upstairs room you can hire for events (baby showers are popular there).

There are shelves selling locally made craft projects including handmade greetings cards by Jane Tyrrell which are way better than ones you can buy in the shops.

They regularly offer themed afternoon teas (as well as normal ones) and have themed treats for those who don’t want a full afternoon tea. At the moment – though it’s only on for a few days longer – you can enjoy a tribute to the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift with an afternoon Swift-tea!

At £25 per person, it incldues an iced cookie that looks like one of Taylor’s jackets, candy friendship bracelets (IYKYK… if you don’t know, fans swap friendship bracelets at Taylor’s concerts), waffles, glitter jelly and more – each item has a name related to a Taylor Swift song and are decorated in a tribute style. And don’t forget the ‘Shake it off’ milkshakes!

My daughter is too young to want a full afternoon tea and we were just pooping in briefly after going swimming at the leisure centre across the road, so we enjoyed a ‘love story’ milkshake – strawberry milkshake without the whipped cream as my daughter doesn’t like cream, but with strawberry sauce, heart shaped sprinkles, edible glitter and a rice paper circle on top that said ‘in my Swiftie era’.

We also had a pink iced doughnut with a rice paper picture of Taylor Swift; I’ve forgotten the name but it relayed to one of her songs (and was delicious).

There’s also a life size cardboard cutout of Taylor which you can take selfies with! While we were there several Swifties came in wearing Eras tour t-shirts and multiple friendship bracelets so I think if you are a fan this is the place for you!

Last year Dotty’s had a Barbie theme to tie in with the release of the Margot Robbie movie. I didn’t get around to blogging about it then so here are a few pictures!

Dotty’s does themes very well but it’s also a lovely place with the most welcoming staff which always feels like a real treat when we visit, so I’m very glad it’s practically on their doorstep. And I can’t wait for September’s theme – Emily in Paris!
